Tests for determining the mechanical properties of insulating and sheating compounds. UNE-EN 60811-501
Test methods
This test is to assess the mechanical properties of the different materials comprising the cable structure. With this procedure we can study the initial status of the materials and their status after undergoing standard ageing
Assessment of the status of the materials is based on two parameters, the tensile load and the lengthening to breakage.
Tensile load (N/mm2): The tensile force applied to the section of sample to breakage.
Lengthening [%]: Increase in the length of the sample caused by applying the tensile force until breakage.
The test is carried out on samples in tensile equipment dumbell or tubular type, applying force at a constant rate until the maximum tensile force is reached [N] when the cable breaks.
