Fire risk test
This series of tests are to check how pipe systems for electrical ducting may contribute to propagating fire. They are only applicable to insulating or compound materials.
Test methods
Several test types are employed:
Fire hazard test: The device is subjected to an abnormal heat source similar to one that would be produced during an electrical fault, and must report a given inflammability. The test method is governed by IEC 60695-2-11, glow wire flammability test method.
Fire propagation: The objective of this test is to define the ability of a system to ignite, and if it does, if limited spread of fire takes place. The test method is governed by IEC 60695-11-2 by means of which a 1 kW flame is applied on an assembled set of the product.
Reaction to fire: This test measures the halogen content in the gases emitted during a fire in accordance with IEC 60754-2.
