IT Cooling

IT Cooling equipment (Information Technology Cooling), otherwise known as Close Control, are refrigeration systems designed to control the temperature in data processing centres. Accumulation of IT equipment means that a lot of heat has to be dissipated in order to ensure an environment where these systems can function properly.

We differentiate between CRAC (Computer Room Air Conditioner) type IT Cooling and CRAH (Computer Room Air Handling Unit) systems. CRAC work the same as air-conditioning equipment, or, where applicable, a water/air heat pump operating in cooling mode. CRAH work the same as a fan-coil. They are terminal units that are fed from a refrigerated water circuit (usually by an outdoor condensation unit based on cooling cycle compression) which extract the excess heat from the room.

Both systems are characterised by fine control of the environmental conditions in regard to temperature and humidity.
