New ecodesign requirements applicable to energy related products
The last December 20th , the Commission Regulation (EU) No 2016/2281 was published on the OJEU (Official Journal of the European Union), dated 30 November 2016, with the aim to implement the Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament and Council regarding the ecodesing requirements which are applicable to energy related products. This regulation is especially focused on air-heating products, refrigeration products, high temperatures chillers and fain coils.
This Regulation, whose first date of application will be January 1st 2018, establishes ecodesign requirements related with market introduction stage and/or commissioning of:
a) air products with heating capacity below 1MW
b) refrigeration products and high temperatures chillers applications whit cooling capacity below 2 MW
c) Fan coils.
In addition, in the Regulation are established the seasonal energy efficiency and information requirements for a wide range of air conditioning equipments, among others:
• Air conditioners (VRF Systems, Rooftop Units, autonomous equipment…)
• Air/water and air/air heat pumps
• Comfort chillers, air/air and water/air heat pumps. (not included under previous regulations)
• High temperatures Chillers applications
Moreover, it establishes the maximum NOx emissions values for those families of equipment that are driven by internal combustion engine, and fain-coil information requirements as well.
